Do you have a Business Plan?

Planning ImageGuest speaker Sybil Ege, Director of the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Elgin Community College joined us to talk about why you need a business plan and how to create one.

Anyone should have a business plan, whether you are just beginning or if you have been in business for many years. Ms. Ege suggested that a business plan should be written for a maximum of three years and should include 3-6 measurable goals. Business plans are especially helpful to help you plan for your business future and possible expansion. It is absolutely necessary if you are approaching any financial institutions for loans.

The discussion covered an overview of each of the components that comprise a business plan. Ms. Ege also provided a template with instructions to create a business plan including the financial documents required to complete one.
