Purpose: Skill and interest surveys are online questionnaires that help customers identify what they like to do or what they are good at so they can move toward a career choice or career change.   There are no right or wrong answers. They are not timed assessments. Customers can use the results as a starting point for exploring potential career pathways.

Surveys offered through Illinois workNet include:

  • Interest Profiler 

    • Expectations: There are 180 activities. Choose if you like, dislike, or are unsure for each activity (10-20 minutes).

    • Results: Organizes interests into 6 categories of work.

  • Work Importance Locator

    • Expectations: Group 20 statements based on how important the work aspect is to you (5-15 minutes).

    • Results: Provides scores for six work values and occupations for each work value.

  • Career Cluster Inventory

    • Expectations: Rate 80 activities as "like very much," "like," "dislike," or "not sure" (5-25 minutes).

    • Results: Provides a graph indicating how your interests match up to each career cluster area.

  • Reality Check
    • Expectations: 15 questions to help you identify specific occupations to choose from based on the cost of living expenses in a specific city/region (5 - 10 minutes).
    • Results: Provides a list of occupations, training/education needed, and salary earned in the city/region of your interest.
  • Learning Style Survey
    • Expectations: Rate 24 activities as “Often, “Sometimes, or “Not Often” to discover your learning style (5 - 10 minutes).
    • Results: Provides scores for three learning styles such as auditory, tactile, and visual.

Access to the Assessment and Results:

  • Customers can access the assessments and saved results through their My Dashboard. All saved results stay with the customer's account. They can retake and save their results an unlimited number of times.

  • Approved providers will able to view saved survey result through specific program tools.
