The Equitable Energy Future Grant Program will provide upfront capital
supporting the development of renewable energy and/or energy efficiency
projects. 
Total Funding:  $25.5 million each year (depending on the state budget)
  
 Award Amounts: $250,000 - $1,000,000 
  
 Who Can Apply:
What the Grant Covers: Funding supports project planning and other costs before construction starts. This can include interconnection fees, permits and zoning, hiring professional services, land lease or purchase, site control, and community outreach, among others.
Project Focus: Funds are for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Illinois. Priority goes to projects built in or benefiting equity investment eligible communities.
The 2025 grant round is currently open and accepting applications until December 31, 2025. Application materials are available on the EEF Notice of Funding Opportunity page on the DCEO site.
