Equity
The core equity values are defined as:

  • Inclusion means that everyone at the table has a “voice” and is “invited” to share their input.

  • Belonging and welcoming mean you and your unique experience are welcomed and valued just as much as any other individual.

  • Diversity means that people with different physical characteristics, cultures, and experiences are at the table. Those differences are valued and respected.

  • Accessibility means accessing resources, training, information, and full participation opportunities without encumbrances.

These important values are included in our workforce training programs—from outreach and enrollment to training and starting a clean energy career. The Energy Transition Barrier Reduction Program helps ensure participants succeed by removing obstacles. Our training programs value diversity, promote cultural understanding, and encourage teamwork. We track and measure everything to make sure we meet our equity goals.

Energy Equity Workforce Portal
The Energy Workforce Equity Portal is an online source designed to help connect clean energy companies with Equity Eligible Persons looking to work in the clean energy sector in Illinois. Making these connections is a key aspect of ensuring that the clean energy industry in Illinois grows in an equitable manner.

Equity Eligible Persons can use the Portal to post their availability for employers. Developers of clean energy projects such as Approved Vendors and Designees in the Illinois Shines Program (also known as the Adjustable Block Program), or developers of utility-scale wind and solar projects, can use the Portal to post clean energy jobs and to search for Equity Eligible Persons.

This Portal is administered by the Illinois Power Agency, the state agency that administers the Illinois Shines and Illinois Solar for All programs, and conducts competitive procurements to support the development of new utility-scale wind, utility-scale solar, and brownfield site solar projects.
