    Hispanic Heritage Month 2023

September 15th – October 15th is National Hispanic Heritage Month. During this month we look at and celebrate the contributions that Hispanic Americans have made to better our society and country. The National Hispanic Heritage Month website has a page on its site with lesson plans for educators that span American history. Additionally, this page includes resources for teachers from well known institutions such as the Library of Congress, National Archives, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Services, and the Smithsonian Institution.

It is important to recognize the achievements, contributions, and influence that Hispanic Americans have provided for the U.S. Illinois workNet encourages our workforce and education partners to learn about and share these resources with their customers.

In addition, the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15th – October 15th, and Support Latino Business Day on September 14th - a national call to action that acknowledges and encourages support for Latino owned businesses. There will be events on Support Latino Business Day and during the monthlong celebration. A toolkit with graphics, sample social media posts, etc. is available for the public to uplift the call to Support Latino Businesses. For more information, please visit DCEO's website.
