    Access Living: Serving People with Disabilities

    Anixter center is one of Chicago area's largest human services agencies serving people with disabilities.  The center operates a broad range of employment programs for people with disabilities - everything from professional-level placement to job coaching and supported employment in the community.

  • Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired

  • City of Chicago Disability Information and Referral Services

    The Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities assists individuals with disabilities "in making more effective use of the health, education, training, economic and social resources available to them."

    Services include: information on programs such as RTA Reduced Fare and Circuit Breaker; administering direct services which include practical assistance, advocacy, and short-term counseling; ensuring referral linkages are made between individuals and the appropriate agencies for health, economic and social needs.

  • Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities
    MOPD's goal is to make Chicago the most accessible city in the nation. MOPD promotes total access, full participation and equal opportunity for people with disabilities of all ages and aspects of life.  The approach includes systematic change, education and training, advocacy, and direct services.   • Paratransit and Accessible Transportation
    The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) serves six counties in northeastern Illinois: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will.  The ADA Paratransit Service is a shared-ride, curb-to-curb transportation provided in the RTA region by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and PACE (the suburban bus division).  To find out more on how these services can assist you, visit the RTA website External link opens in a new window.
