Anixter - Laid Off Worker Assistance

      Attention Employees of Anixter! Due to layoffs at this company, you are eligible for programs and services offered by the Workforce Investment Act. The Dislocated Worker program is that specific program designed to assist workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own, by providing transitional services and opportunities for either re-employment or provide vocational/academic training. Workshops will be held on September 22, 2009 at 7:30 a.m. & 9:00 a.m.  at the company location, 11939 S. Central Ave. in Alsip,IL. These workshops are designed especially for you, to give information and support. You are also invited to visit one of the centers located in your local workforce area, to learn more about training and career opportunities available to you.

  • Attend a pre-layoff Help for Laid Off Worker Assistance Workshop. Individuals are highly encouraged to attend this workshop to help prepare them for your next steps.
Participate with a Dislocated Worker Program Application Session to determine eligibility for additional benefits and services. To participate with this session, attendance at a pre-layoff Help for Laid Off Worker Assistance Workshop is recommended.     The Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program External link opens in a new window (IHWAP) is designed to help low income residents save fuel and money, while increasing the comfort of their homes.

  • Low Income Energy Efficient Residential Retrofit Program

    More than $213,000 in grants will help existing low-income homeowners replace items such as refrigerators, furnaces, lighting, dishwashers and air conditioners with energy-efficient models.

    Legislation approved last year created funding for programs and incentives through money from ComEd and Ameren to reduce electrical energy usage and demand by company customers.
