Hardest Hit Program The
Illinois Hardest Hit
Program is designed for homeowners who have lost income due to unemployment or substantial underemployment. It gives temporary mortgage assistance to eligible applicants, so that they may keep their homes while looking for work and rebuilding financial security. The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) and the U.S. Department of Treasury have partnered in this effort.
The Homeowners Protection Act
In 2009, Governor Quinn signed into law the
Homeowners Protection Act
, which gives homeowners a grace period of 30 days to work with lenders/loan counselors instead of entering immediate foreclosure. To find out more about requirements and eligibility, call the IDFPR Toll Free Hotline at 800-532-8785, or visit the website above.
