Hardest Hit Program
The Illinois Hardest Hit External link opens in a new window Program is designed for homeowners who have lost income due to unemployment or substantial underemployment. It gives temporary mortgage assistance to eligible applicants, so that they may keep their homes while looking for work and rebuilding financial security. The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) and the U.S. Department of Treasury have partnered in this effort.
