General Wages and Trends

When exploring jobs and a career path, find out what jobs have the best job openings now and in the future. Use Labor Market Information Link opens in a new window to:
  • find job openings,
  • pay rates, and
  • other information that helps you learn what job may be right for you.

Wages

Wages are not the only thing to think about when looking for a job. However, you should research pay scales when searching for a job to make sure you will be making enough money for your needs.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics is a good place to start. It provides:
  • wages by area and occupation,
  • earnings by industry,
  • employee benefits, and much more.

Trends in Employment

Trends help you know if jobs are growing. They can also help you know what jobs are in demand of workers or jobs that are going away. Use the Explore Job Information page to find regional, state-wide and national trends. Also find wages and job descriptions.

Youth Employment Information

Finding those first jobs can be exciting, but people under the age of 18 who want to start working have some things to consider. They'll need to know about:
  • Hours they can work
  • Jobs they can and cannot do
  • How to prevent workplace injuries
