Apply for a Part-Time Job

Part-time jobs typically do not require a resume Link opens in a new window or cover letter. Rather, most part-time positions require filling out a job application form. To start, you need to locate the businesses' web Link opens in a new window page. You may find that the business is a chain, meaning they have more than one location and may be located across the country. From the Home page, try to find the local business to which you want to apply. From the local Home page, find a link titled Employment, Jobs, or Careers. Many businesses have an online application form. 

If you do not have access to the Internet Link opens in a new window, many businesses have a computer kiosk Link opens in a new window where you can fill out a job application. Be sure to take all of your information with you so you can fill out the application in its entirety. Some businesses still use paper applications that you may fill out and return.

When you visit the business to apply, be sure you appear as if you are going for an interview Link opens in a new window. In some cases, the business may want to interview you right then. So dress for the job in business casual clothing: typical work attire includes wearing khakis and a polo or black pants with a dress shirt. The business needs to know that you are responsible and ready to work. Click here for more tips on maintaining professionalism.
