DOL
The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity was recently awarded $3.5 million from the US Department of Labor to train dislocated workers for occupations in Healthcare, Information Technology and Transportation/Distribution/Logistics. Workers who have been unemployed at least 27 weeks and those identified as likely to exhaust their unemployment insurance benefits may be eligible for this Workforce Investment Act project that is to result in the attainment of industry-recognized credentials leading to new in-demand careers. Project services will be provided by Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) agencies selected to participate in the project based on demonstrated need. If you are a laid off worker and interested in obtaining additional information about dislocated worker services, please contact your LWIA.
