Are You Missing Promotions or Raises Because You Lack Computer Skills?

Description

Computer technology is constantly evolving and most businesses have also evolved to utilize more efficient computer technologies. If you feel left behind due to a lack of computer skills, there are numerous agencies throughout Illinois who are ready to assist you gain these skills at minimal or no cost.

Illinois workNet Center Resource Rooms provide a wide spectrum of services, including training in computer skills. Many are equipped to offer assistance to ESL and disabled individuals. There is generally no charge to individuals who meet guidelines.

Computer literacy classes for adults are available at most Illinois Community Colleges. Some classes are even designed for ESL students. For example, the Adult Education department at Kishwaukee College offers ELS Computer Literacy classes at its DeKalb location. The class is designed to help adults gain computer job skills, life skills, and allow them to better help their children with school assignments.

Locations of Community Colleges and other Illinois State Adult Education Providers, as well as descriptions of their services, are provided by the Illinois Community College Board.

Informal and free computer literacy training or tutoring is also available at numerous Illinois libraries. Some are combined with ESL assistance. Check with libraries in your area for computer offerings.
