Many women who have been absent from the workforce for a long period of time, especially those whose absence was related to raising a family, find that it is often very difficult to find desirable employment upon re-entry. Programs geared toward the needs of these women can help them to continue their educations and to find fulfilling employment opportunities.
Do you or someone you know qualify for the Displaced Homemakers Program? You do if you meet one of the following criteria:
- Have you been the dependent of another family member's income, but are no longer supported by that income?
- Are you a single parent whose youngest dependent child will become ineligible to received assistance under Part A of Title IV of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 601 et seq.) not later than two years after the date on which the parent applies for assistance.
- Are you unemployed or underemployed and experiencing difficulty in obtaining or upgrading employment?
If so, the Displaced Homemakers Program could be the opportunity for you.
