Having basic computer skills is an important step in achieving your training and employment goals.  If you already completed the basic computer skills courses, congratulations!  You are off to a great start. 

• If you haven't completed basic computer skills training, return to the Determine Path and Take Online Courses - Basic Computer Skills page, and begin learning basic computer skills now.

• If you're not laid off but are looking at job options, begin by following these steps:
• Step 1: Log into your My Illinois workNet account and complete the Interest Profiler (on the left menu after you login).  It will help you identify jobs in your interest areas.
• Step 2: Watch helpful videos to get you started with using Illinois workNet.
• Step 3: Explore occupations that match your interests.

• Step 5: Connect to other training programs to prepare for the job you want.
• Step 6: Update Your Resume. now that you know more about using computers. Most employers look for  a brief description of your computer skills on your resume, so it is important  to include this information.
• Step 7: Find jobs using the Illinois Job Search Tool.
