Beyond High School

You responded that you have successfully completed some post-high school training. This means that you are eligible to apply for any college-level program, or to enroll in an occupational training program.

Occupational training includes vocational or trade schools, art and design schools, as well as many other accredited programs associated with a particular occupation. For example, you might go to this type of school to learn how to cut hair or repair engines. Occupational training can also include programs that lead to specialized professions, such as nursing. Usually the final result of an occupational training program is a certificate that licenses you to work in a certain field.

However, if you want to become a professional in an industry such as law, accounting, or business management, it is best to plan for an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree from a college or university. A higher education is the best investment you can make in your long-term job planning, no matter what industry you are in.

Here are some good starting points for you:

As you consider enrolling in an educational program, explore your options for getting financial help in the Services section, or exploring job information in the Jobs section.
