Explore Education and Training Programs

Use one of the search options below to find education and training programs offered by public community colleges and universities, and private colleges and universities to include: technical and vocational schools; trade schools; art and design schools, and more.  Choose from either Option 1 - to search an education or training program by occupational keyword or Option 2 - to search an education or training program by career area.  After an education or training program is selected, a menu specific to the education or training program will be displayed on the left under Explore Education & Training Programs.

This training program menu may be removed by clicking on the (Clear) link to the right of the program title.

    Animal caretakers give care to animals at shelters, zoos, kennels, pet shops, stables, aquariums, and research labs.

    Zoologists study animals and how they live and grow in their habitat.

    Free classes in basic computer skills are taught by a bilingual (Spanish and English) instructor. Other classes include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Graphics, Excel, E-mail, Internet, Job Search and Job Readiness, plus Planning a Trip Online, Digital Photography, Outlook and Publishing.  All classes are basic, beginning classes presented in two hour modules which can be repeated.


  • Waubonsee Community College/Truck Driver Training
    Truck Driver Training Earn your CDL through Waubonsee Community College's Truck Driver Training Program. Day and evening classes available. Assistance in placement with local employers is included in the program. Summer classes start June 16 (day & evening) July 7 (day) July 21 (evening) July 28 (day).   • Kishwaukee College Placement testing
        Compass placement testing, required for many students who plan to attend Kishwaukee College, is now available by appointment at the DeKalb Illinois workNet Center.  The full computerized assessment takes approximately two hours to complete, but may be taken in sections if desired or if only part of the test is required. 
        Individuals who are interested in attending classes in English as a Second Language may now take the BEST test at the DeKalb Illinois workNet Center.  This test is to determine an individual's skills in English in order to choose the most appropriate ESL class.
        Job seekers who need to document their keyboarding skills may take a "typing test" at the DeKalb Illinois workNet Center and present the results to an employer.

  • Youth Services Providers

    Workforce Investment Act programs are offered to youth between the ages of 14-21. Youth services providers offer programs to assist young people in reaching individual academic goals (high school diploma recovery or GED) and developing basic job skills as they make the transition from being older youth to young adults. All WIA services for youth are offered at no cost to the participant.

    All Local Workforce Area’s have at least one provider of services to this group of people. The statewide WIA Youth Services Providers List gives the provider’s name, contact info, city in which the provider is located, and a brief listing of the services provided.   • Illinois Hire the Future
    Illinois Hire the Future (IHTF), a program designed to help students between the ages of 16 and 21 find a full-time summer job or a part-time year round job.

  • Looking for an Apprenticeship Program but cannot find a Program Sponsor?
