Expanding Branding Opportunities for Illinois’ Businesses

Description

The Illinois workNet External link opens in a new window has added a powerful Business Branding feature which offers free Web visibility to Illinois businesses within the Key Sectors of Healthcare, Manufacturing, Information Technology, or Transportation, Distribution and Logistics External link opens in a new window

This Business Branding feature allows Illinois businesses and associations to create their own pages which are housed on the Illinois workNet site. Businesses can promote career opportunities and position their businesses as leading employers. Associations post industry trends, research, and other material relevant to high-growth industries.

Branding pages are suited for any size business. Large businesses create a branding page to promote their corporate brand to potential employees and use their unique expertise and research to educate individuals about industry trends. Smaller businesses that may not have resources for an online human resource site may use a page to promote career opportunities and request applications.

Each branding page offers several features that allow businesses and associations to create a visually appealing and informative page. The page includes space for a company logo, description of services and products, promotional events, career opportunities, a Google map showing the business location, and Web links which direct users to other Websites of interest.

The process for creating a page is simple. Businesses and associations select the appropriate industry template and add information in the indicated fields as prompted. A graphic, logo or similar image can be uploaded to the page. Numerous promos can be added although only two are displayed at a time. Businesses and associations can list resources helpful to others within the industry. For example, from the Illinois workNet Information Technology web page, External link opens in a new window the Midwest Council of the American Electronics Association External link opens in a new window branding page lists links to resources valuable to the Information Technology industry. The pages can be updated at any time.

  • IL Department of Transportation - Economic Recovery Information

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) includes $48 billion for transportation infrastructure consisting of highways and bridges, mass transit, rail and aviation.

The transportation system in Illinois is at a crossroads, and is in need of the additional federal funds provided by the ARRA. ARRA funds will be utilized to support safer transportation systems, address environmental concerns, offset the erosion of the construction dollar, address the crippling levels of congestion/delay and meet the transportation demands of the future.

In order to access the first half of the highway stimulus funds coming to Illinois, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has identified projects that can be awarded quickly to put people to work in the construction industry and to utilize the upcoming construction season. While the list of projects is larger than expected in the first wave of funding, it will allow Illinois to be in a position to spend any funds redistributed from other states.
