Businesses in Illinois are Finding It Pays to go Green

Description

Financial rewards for going green aren't just for new start-ups. Existing businesses are finding that going green when expanding, updating, or remodeling provides more than 'feel-good' rewards. Tax breaks and grants can off-set initial expenses. Expanded sales to ecology savvy customers and lowered operating costs provide long term financial rewards.

DCEO programs such as Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Program (MEEP), Small Business $mart Energy (SB$E), and Energy Performance Contracting provide businesses with technical and financial support to achieve energy efficiency.

The EPA has expanded the energy efficiency program to include a wide spectrum of business equipment including computers, lights, copiers, water coolers, and many more items. Even building construction can receive Energy Star ratings. By purchasing Energy Star equipment and using approved construction methods, your business can qualify for rebates, Energy Star Certification, and lowered utility rates.
