Your ability to find services and make connections through physical and online Illinois workNet Centers Link opens in a new window is possible because of the federal framework that was created by Congress in 1998 called the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Link opens in a new window.

Based on the Act, Illinois built a wonderful workforce development system Link opens in a new window to meet our citizens' needs. Illinois' workforce development system is flexible so that it can respond quickly to local needs and opportunities. Now that WIA is up for reauthorization Link opens in a new window, we hope that Congress makes Illinois' system a national model for success. Local leadership that provides credibility and guidance, coordinated efforts that leverage expertise of partners, and program accountability in the form of performance measures are a few reasons why the Illinois WIA network has produced effective results for other job seekers and businesses, and WIA can Work for you.
